Board of Education Addresses Transportation Concerns

The board of education has discussed and listened to community members' concerns regarding transportation. The process is being evaluated. Watch for your opportunity to share your ideas in the coming months as the current procedures are evaluated.

Woodmore Auditorium Information on School Website

There is a page on the Woodmore website that features comparison plans for the proposed high school auditorium that will be on the November 4th ballot and new PreK-8 cafetorium that is expected to be completed by the end of this year. The page can be found by going to the Woodmore home page and selecting the Levy tab. When the old school is demolished, there will no longer be a full-sized auditorium in our district. There will be a smaller cafetorium with seating of 277 that can be used for small class/group programs. A 1.98 mill levy will be on the November 4th ballot for the purpose of constructing, furnishing and equipping a new auditorium (4.5 million dollars) with 600 seats at the high school. This building can be used for school events such as class programs, debate and quiz team competitions, band/choir rehearsals, performances, and hosting competitions, drama club rehearsals and performances, awards assemblies, guest speakers, and staff and student training. It can also be rented by businesses, civic organizations and outside performing groups, which will help off-set the cost to maintain the facility. The Levy will cost $69.30 per year per $100,000 home assessment for 25 years which is $5.78 per month, $1.33 per week, or $ .19 per day.

FFA Floriculture Team Places 4th Overall at Big E
National Competition Team

The Woodmore FFA Floriculture Team participated in the National Floriculture Competition at the Big E in West Springfield, Massachusetts on Saturday September 12th, 2014. The team consisted of Erin Luckey, Allie Wellons, Natalie Liskai, and Lexey Holub. The team is advised by Mr. Adam Downs and coached by Mrs. Ellen Saffran. They advanced to the Big E through placing 2nd at the state competition which took place at Ohio State ATI in April 2014. While at the Big E, they had to compete against teams from nine other states located in the Eastern Coast. The contest consisted of plant identification, a job interview, dealing with a customer complaint, selling a product to a customer, dealing with a hazardous situation, making a floral arrangement and a corsage, a team activity, and a written test. The Woodmore Floriculture team placed first in the team activity at the competition and 4th overall. While in Massachusetts, in their free time, the team traveled around and hiked on the Appalachian Trail. The time spent practicing during and after school and also during the summer really paid off. The Floriculture Team looks forward to more competitions to come in the spring.  Congratulations to the team and Mrs. Saffran!
