Did you see the proposed budget published by Governor Kasich for fiscal years 2016 and 2017? The link to the information is:
Here are a couple of tips to help you navigate the budget:
-When looking at the simulated numbers, it is important to look at the estimates with TPP/Dereg Phase-out included. This will show a net of what we will be gaining, along with what we are losing. As an example, the first list on the website shows Woodmore receiving a 10% increase in state foundation, however, once you take the phase out into consideration, the net effect on the district is estimated at an increase of just under 3% (shown in the second list).
- Key factors in formula calculations include student enrollment (ADM), demographics related to student need, property valuation, and district income. The state makes decisions based on how well they believe the community can provide support to the school.
-Remember, this is NOT final. There will be a lot of activity with regards to the budget between now and July 1, 2015 (when the budget takes effect) which could change Woodmore's bottom line in either a positive or negative way.
-Finally, ask questions! I am happy to help navigate the proposed funding as best I can.
I will do my best to keep you informed regarding the Governor's budget as they become available!
