District Baseball Tournament Information

The Woodmore varsity baseball team, having captured the sectional championship earlier this week, advances to the Div. III district tournament next week.  The tournament will be played at Booster Field at Defiance High School.  The address of the high school is: 1755 Palmer Drive, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Admission for the game is: adults- $6; students: $4.  The Wildcats will play Evergreen High School at approximately 6 p.m on Thursday, May 23.  The Woodmore-Evergreen game will follow the first district game, Fairview against the winner of the Genoa-Lake contest, which will begin at 4:15.  The district championship game will be played Saturday, May 25 at 2 p.m. back at Defiance High School.  The district winner advances to the regional semifinal which will be played May 30 at 2 p.m. at Ed Sandy Field at the Middle School in Elida.  The winner of the Defiance district plays the winner of the district that will be played at the University of Northwest Ohio.  The regional championship game is scheduled for May 31 at 5 p.m.

Upcoming Track and Field Events

The Northern Buckeye Conference will hold its junior high and high school championship meets this weekend.  Both meets will be hosted by Elmwood High School.  The junior high meet will take place May 17 (Friday) with the field events starting at 4 p.m., the semifinals of some running events at 4:30, and the finals of all running events begins at 6 p.m.  Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for students and senior citizens.  The following day (May 18) the high school meet will be contested with the field events starting at 10 a.m.  The semifinals of some running events will begin at 11 a.m. with the finals of all running events at 12:30.  Admission for the meet is $6 for adults and $4 for students.

The high school boys and girls track teams will take their first step toward qualifying for the state track meet when they compete in the district meet hosted by Eastwood High School.  The district meet will be contested May 23 and May 25.  Admission on both days will be $6 for adults and $4 for students.  On May 23, three boys field events (long jump, pole vault, shot put) and two girls field events (high jump and discus) will begin at 4 p.m.  At 5 p.m. the running events will begin with the finals of the 3200 relay.  The remainder of the running events on Thursday will be semifinal heats.  On May 25, the discus and high jump for the boys will be contested along with the long jump, pole vault, and shot put for the girls beginning at 11:30 a.m.  The finals of all the running events begin at 1 p.m.
